Welcome. I am Kevin Smith, and I offer Person-Centred and Collaborative Counselling and Psychotherapy in Glasgow or by telephone/video. I have a postgraduate diploma in Psychological Wellbeing, Counselling, and Psychotherapy (2021) from Persona Development and Training, and an M.Sc. in Advanced Counselling and Psychotherapy Studies (Expected, November 2022) from the University of Salford. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have also studied philosophy and theology at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and completed shorter training in various fields of therapy.
The most important thing for me is to be able to welcome people without putting any pressure on them to change, trusting in the potential for each person to find their own path with the right support. I mostly find that the first way I can be helpful is by bringing calm and open presence to whatever someone needs to communicate that day. Having this space to communicate can really help people see and feel things more clearly, and move forward.
As well as this presence, I also have practices, skills, experience, and theories that I can share based on mindfulness, self-compassion, cognitive therapy, solution-focused therapy, existential therapy, transpersonal therapy, and positive psychology that I can share. These always emerge out of the connection and cooperation that we build together, from what someone genuinely wants and needs rather than my own agenda or interpretation.
I aim to make my practice available to as many people as possible, with a sliding scale of £20-£45 per session based on affordability (see 'Counselling/Psychotherapy' tab for more on my perspective on fees, and on being Person-Centred and Collaborative).
